What's more impressive is that the Selma boys look to be getting it done in the classroom. Hat's off to any program that produces champions on the mat and in the classroom.

Congratualtions to Alex, Dave,Jocelyn and the entire Cisneros Family. The Cornell scholarship was earned with a lot of hard work and family support both on the mat and in the class room. I can still remember watching big brother/State Champion Joe give "lessons" to his little brother on their living room floor. Congratulations again to Alex who is a great young man and representative for California wrestling. Perry Mecate & Family:)

DrakeHS: Nik is already in Ithaca attending summer school at Cornell.

On behalf of our family we would like to extend a huge congratulations to Alex & his family! We are so proud of you Alex! You have earned & deserve the best which we believe Cornell offers. The Cisneros family is a great family & we are fortunate to have spent the last few years as part of their wrestling family. We are looking forward to many more. Alex has been a great friend, workout partner, role model & motivator to all of the Selma boys & it is absolutely awesome to see Gods blessing and favor in his life. I can't think of anything better than having Alex and Nik on the same team again. It is an answered prayer for us and we were overjoyed when we heard the news. God is good!! We can't wait to watch you finish out your high school career & move on to the next phase of your life. Enjoy your senior year. It goes by fast and before you know it you will be boarding your plane to Ithaca. We may as well start saying this now -- Go Big Red!!!

God Bless

The process of choosing a college was an overwhelming experience. The toughest choice my family has had to make so far. Fortunately we have been blessed to have close family friends that have recently gone through this process and shared their experiences with us. The Pena, Mecate, and Garcia family have been with us every step of the way, and we are extremely gratefull. We have also been fortunate to be able to get advice from people that have "been there done that". Friends such as Paul Keysaw, Jordan Jackson, Rick Ferguson and just too many more to list. You guys know who you are. :-)

Hundreds of work hours have been put in to get to this point. It all starts with family support. My wife has been the backbone of Alex's success. From commuting an hour and a half each way for practice at least twice a week when Alex was very young. Sitting at almost every high school practice, when I can't make it, taking mental notes on what Alex needs to work on at home. Then comes the Mecate, Pena, Lozano, and Zarate beat downs over the years. That will toughen you up, lol. Also many, many coaches have been very instrumental in Alex's wrestling. Helping him sharpen his technique, and give him training advice. The "mad man" conditioning and lifting that Larry and Olivia Allenger put him through. The countless times that Alex's school teachers helped him with school work, and SAT preparation after school. It was a combination of all these factors that led up to an awesome July 8, 2011 with Cornell head coach Rob Koll sitting in my living room.

We still have one more year to go. It has been an awesome journey so far. Thanks to all those have have supported my son.

GO BIG RED!!!!

Pena Family!
Awesome move for Nik to get out there and start in on the classes! My younger brother did the same thing prior to his official entry into Cornell. Jut so you know the caliber of education your on will be getting, my younger bro is now an architect for a fairly prominent firm in Copenhagen, Denmark. He LOVED his time there and b/c of this association and Coach Koll's kindness and obvious incredible work with the program, I'm a big fan of Cornell now. He raises over $300K for the program annually. INCREDIBLE if you ask me! Kinda excited CA is representing in that room in a big way. Good luck and your son will no doubt prosper there! Congrats!

David,
Congratulations once again to Alex. Those east coast wrestling fans who follow the EIWA are excited to have him at Cornell. It says a lot about the Selma program that the Pena and Cisneros families are sending their boys to an Ivy League university. I'm mildly disappointed that Alex did not choose West Point, but that is compensated by the fact he will wrestle for a top NCAA program at a prestigious university. Since the Ivies don't redshirt, we can't look forward to watching Alex in the Big Red lineup for the 2012-13 season. I'm glad my son and I were able to answer a few questions for you.
Let's get that fourth title!
