I've heard both medal counts and hydration. If they go strictly by hydration then the SS would have around 12 entries which I'm sure people would have a fit about.
Based on the data then entries to next years state should be adjusted to
CCS 2 entries (-1)
CS 2 entries (same)
LA 1 entry (same)
NCS 3 entires (same)
SD 1 entry (-1)
SJS 6 entries (+1)
SS 9...

CIF has handbooks stating the criteria and yes previous state placings would be a starting point until head to heads are brought in. Head to heads trump everything. Attached is the CIF...
84 of the 112 (or 75%) seeded wrestlers qualified for state, last year 72 or 64% qualified in the top 8 to state
18 of the 28 #1 & 2 seeds were in the final,s last year there were 22
47 of the...
According to the brackets Nieto took 3rd @ South Hills Figueroa
COV, BP, and KEN all have h2h over one another so yes criteria 5 would be used and it would go BP, KEN, and COV.
But WES is a returning CIF placer #12 @ 126 so she would be above BP, KEN, and COV...

With a just over 48 hours left to register it looks like we're at 318 registers. Teams like Northview, West Covina, Righetti, Santa Maria, Santa Paula, and Pioneer Valley are still yet to register....
My understanding is that the criteria was sent to LA from state on this past Tuesday, only a few days before the tournament. If it was not sent out before the season began then that is truely unfair....
Here's from suggestions from CIF last year on how the boys were to conduct a seeding committee meeting. On the last page is the criteria that was to be used. And a scenario in which head-to-head can...
I don't know....dub C is quite a bit of a drive away from LP you're asking me to drive a whole 2 miles. lol
Since there is there is no head to head that I have found between Carrasco and Jimenez and they both lost to a common opponent, Vazquez from Chaffey, it defaults back to previous State/CIF finish....
Since Daishea, Brandi and Sabrina all have wins over each other it would default back to State placing last year and Sabrina would receive the higher ranking. But since Crystal has wins over both...
Since this has gotten buried by comments, repost so it's easier to find especially with the updates.

Just because coaches complain does not mean the seeding was that incorrect. He's some statistics about last years seeding and CIF results. 72 or 64% of the 112 wrestlers seeding 1-8 at CIF went on to...
Tournament placings are good but head to head again beats all, and if the tournament the a girl say took 3rd at was a smaller tournament, that does not carry as much weight as a 3rd at a larger one...

CIF this year will be SS only. San Diego(i.e.; Steel Canyone), Los Angeles (San Fernando), and Central (Arvin and Porterville) are all having their own CIF. I will update the ranking after this...
Agreed. I'm willing to do anything I can to help out. Let's make the first SS CIF the best possible for the girls.
Seems to be lots of errors in the handbook, this may have been one of them. In the past girls have not been allowed to move up a class if they did not make weight.
To me this supporst the need to get girls wrestling official sanctioned even more. Girls CIF is a week before boys CIF but yet the cut off date for competition is the same. This has happened two...
This issue occurred last year with a team having dual right before. State will only have the growth allowance (+2) I'm sure not the +4.
Also at the end of the book it mentions that the state...
