second "observation"
With trying to get equality (cringe) a couple things seem "unfair"
example:
1. How come the guys CIF get individualized medals with place/weight etc...printed on them with a delineation of colors representing places and girls get generic same exact medal for being a CIF "champion" to 12th place. no difference, no weights (as I recall) or places engraved on the back. it is what it is, but that kind of sucks.
2. Why at SS CIF were there no OW? There was at guys CIF (at least at SLO where we were). I asked and the lady at the table and she said "I was told we are not giving out OW at this tournament (girls)" What? (its not her fault, she was just following directions)
correct me if I am wrong, did they not do it last year (OW)? I have been wrong before...uh...many times. so it wouldnt surprise me :-)
trying to level the playing field, which will never happen because they are just different (yes girls and guys are different) but what should be bar be set to to be "equal". What should be considered "equal" when talking about guys and girls CIF/state?
blah blah blah, guys CIF is way tougher than girls...totally. BUT what should be kept equal where it CAN be kept equal. for some (if not most?) they are practicing right along side those CIF male champions all year in the wrestling room, going through the same workouts, etc...
I am not a feminazi here, dont read into this. My boys rock the house. but it sucks that they work so hard in a sport where they are minority, and they dont even get a medal saying they were a champion, or second, or third and there is no girl in the place "worthy" enough to give an OW award too.
