Default So why is Collister being brought into this Christian smith conversation?

For the record, at 5 counties Collister was pinned by the Palo Verde kid (While winning the match), that beat Christian Smith for 5th.

At the same CIF, Collister was 2nd and Smith 5th at the same weight. The only common opponent at CIF was Scwartzman from Villa Park. Collister beat him 11-4 in semis and Schwartzman beat Smith 12-5 in Con semis.

It's kind of funny how things go full circle! Smith lost at Masters to Michinock from Aliso Niguel, whom Collister beat at 5 Counties. Ironically, Collister lost to Pham from Westminster at Masters, whom he beat at 5 Counties. Looks like Smith and Pham both learned to win the matches that really mattered. Christian is a great kid, and will plenty tough next year.

I think he would have great matches with either Collister, as the smaller Collister beat him in a 5-4 dogfight at CIF Smith's freshman year. Good luck to all of them.

Jon Wixiim (#1 ranked wrestler at 182's and probably the #3 or #4 ranked wrestler in the state) has moved to Utah, where he will be wrestling for Maple Mountain. Maple Mountain does attend the Reno TOC and so he should be there. (I am not a coach of Maple Mt. or a family member so I do not know exactly all the reason for the move, but I do know that he is enrolled at the school).

Where I come from the tie goes to the kid who placed at the state meet

    1. Giovanni Castillo - Corona Centenniel (12) 2
    2. Jordan Gurrola - N Torrance (12) 4

You selling printing these days --- Thomas @ #1 may be correct -- but usually you have to wrestle a HS match before your the top ranked kid (exception Aaron Pico)

FYI Pags just beat the #1 kid in the country ---also took out Ramirez who placed at Senior Nationals and placed higher at state than Briceno---- ranked 3rd in the SS--gotta love it

Richard Cassilas from Northview at 106 as well since were ranking freshman--- and Salinas likely a 171 #er next year

There are two types of people: those that talk the talk and those that walk the walk. People who walk the walk sometimes talk the talk but most times they don't talk at all, 'cause they walkin'. Now, people who talk the talk, when it comes time for them to walk the walk, you know what they do? They talk people like me into walkin' for them.

Ernie, I think Garrett does a pretty good job with the rankings. He has to make a living to support his 7 kids in Southern California. Garrett is using Masters placing until we get closer to the start of the High School season. We talked about Masters in the Southern Section not being the best indicator because so many kids default out once they qualify for state but it is the easiest indicator we have for the offseason. There is no doubt you have a better view of kids right now because that is your business.

I watched Christian Pagdilao vs Nate Skonieczny in person, Pagdilao put on a clinic for position wrestling! once the season starts he has to be #1 or #2. Brian Salinas at 171s is a scary thought; Brian was a beast at 145 with the senior class graduating Brian has to be a favorite to be in the State Finals.

Ernie it’s only June; the rankings will get much clearer once we get closer to November.

We could use your promoting skills; have you set a date to invade the Southern Section?
