Let’s all go marching to Santa Teresa High School in San Jose on Saturday, May 5th for a Santa Clara Valley Wrestling Association Freestyle/Greco tournament for all age groups – Bantam, Intermediate, Novice, Schoolboy/girl, Cadet, Junior and Open.

The Saint Classic
Santa Teresa High School
6150 Snell Ave
San Jose, CA 95123

The timeline for Registration/Weigh-ins and the tournament will be as follows:

Saturday, May 5th
7 AM to 8:30 AM - Registration & Weigh-ins
Registration costs - $10 first style, $5 for second style
($5 additional for late registration (after 8:30 AM))

As usual, there will be a rules clinic around 9:15 AM for everybody on the Freestyle & Greco rules and techniques. This is also a good time to ask any questions that you might have. Wrestling will start between 9:30-10:00 AM, beginning with our Bantam, Intermediate and Open wrestlers. All other age groups will follow as quickly as we can get their brackets done and work them in.

Stay on your quest to become this year’s SCVWA Grand Champion! The Grand Champion award is a belt. Also, please join in our fundraising raffle. Monica Moore has completed a CA USA Wrestling blanket (pictures on our FB page) to be raffled off at our championships on May 26th. Raffle tickets are $5 each. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards Regional and National team scholarships for our Santa Clara Valley Wrestling Association wrestlers.

You will need a 2011-2012 USA Athlete card and proof of age (i.e. birth certificate, driver’s license, passport) in order to compete at this tournament and all of the California State Tournaments. You can only buy your USA cards on-line.

If you do not have a current USA athlete card, you will need to purchase one online before you arrive at the tournament. Your new USA athlete card will cost approximately $40. Here is the link to purchase your card online: http://www.usawmembership.com/

Please note that ALL USA Athlete cards can only be purchased or renewed online.

ALL USA Coach’s Cards MUST be purchased or renewed online. All coaches will also need to submit to a background check every two years as part of the process when purchasing your coach’s card.

Officials 18 and older must also renew or purchase their licenses online.

As always, to help our tournaments run smoothly, the assistance of our parents and friends is needed and appreciated. See the Tournament Director to find out where you can help. Volunteers needing community service credit need to bring their paperwork for signatures.

For the entire Santa Clara Valley Wrestling Association fall/spring schedule, go to: http://catcode.com/scvwa/local.html

Our wrestlers are encouraged to work the tournaments as referees, and along with earning cash, can also earn community service credit by doing so. Just bring your community service paperwork from your school for signatures.

See everybody on the mat.
