Dear Parents and Wrestler;
On behalf of California USA Wrestling I would like to extend an opportunity to you to participate in the Cadet Duals and Cadet Western Regionals in Pocatello, Idaho.
This is the second year that California will be sending a team to Pocatello to train and compete. Last year many of the participants wrestled in over 25 matches, almost as many matches as a high school season. This experience paid dividends at the Cadet Greco and Freestyle Nationals in Fargo. Most of the California Cadets who reached the victory stand in Fargo, participated in the Cadet Duals and Western Regionals. Numerous athletes on the trip also qualified for the California State Championships and placed.
The dates for this year’s camp and tournament is scheduled for June 12-24. California will compete against the best in the Western United States. Not only will you wrestle in Freestyle and Greco duals, you will also wrestle in the Western Regional Championships in Freestyle, Greco and Folkstyle. The coaching staff will be made up of the highly qualified coaches with experience in Freestyle, Greco-Roman and Folkstyle wrestling. California USA Wrestling will also be sending a Certified Athletic Trainer to take care of any injuries that may occur.
Team California will be traveling by charter bus to Idaho. Tentatively, the bus will depart on June 12 from Southern California and make stops as it travels through Central and Northern California. A short training camp will take place in Idaho before the start of the tournament. Team California will be housed in the dormitories at Idaho State University and eat in their dining hall.
The cost of the trip will be $500 which will include transportation, lodging, uniform package, and tournament entry fees. The cost and manner of payment for food will be emailed shortly, as we negotiate the cost of meals. The value of the trip is considerable, considering the amount of matches wrestled and the number of travel days.
