Default Vegas says CA may not make the finals

Shots fired just got a few changes on the MI dream team that will make the potential showdown with the CA Dream Team scary good--included matchup of the century Ben Whitford vs Isaiah Martinez--that right there is worth the price of admission--lets look at how they match up

111 Camden Bertucci vs Isaiah Hokit

Bertucci lost in OT to Logan Olson in the finals and will wrestle on an aia team headed to Mongolia this summer. This is a vital tossup match

vegas says (MI 3 CA 0)

118 Trevor Zdebski vs Jonas Gaytan

Gaytan a state finalist and flo all american will have a big edge here over Zdebski who lost to Olson in the state semis and wrestled back to take 3rd at 108's this year

vegas says (MI 3 CA 4)

125 Kenny Bade vs Emelio Saavedra

Another match up to close to call as Bade and Saavedra both were all americans at flo. Just for some color Bade beat CA finalist Knoblauch at flo last year.

vegas says (MI 6 CA 4)

131 Nate Limmux vs Javier Gasca

Gasca the favorite here but Limmux wrestled well at the freak show besting state finalist Paul Fox and has a victory last summer over Anthony Valencia

    vegas says (MI 6 CA 7 )

137 Kyle Simaz vs Jake Smith

Interesting match here as the younger Simaz is a gamer in a year that saw older brother Cam win the NCAA's. Edge has to go with Smith but this is a toss up match

    vegas says ( MI 6 CA 10)

143 Nick Trimble vs Brian Sergi

Trimble went undefeated last year here and is headed to MSU, Sergi could be considerably bigger here but the match is again to close to call

vegas says (MI 9 CA 10)

150 Taylor Simaz vs Natrelle Demison

Bigger Simaz here one of the best MI wrestlers pound for pound in another incredible matchup. Simaz headed to Cornell and Demison to the Air Force academy. Edge to Simaz here but not by much.

vegas says (MI 12 CA 10)

157 Ben Whitford vs Isaiah Martinez

What a match up these guys both can score points in bunches. They have both done everything in every style and on every big stage thus far. Edge well some would say Whitford some Martinez--who the heck knows.

vegas says (MI 12 CA 13)

165 Jordan Wohlfert vs Jim Wilson

Wolfort anchored a nationally ranked St Johns team with teammates Massa and Whitford and is headed to MSU. He is a getting the edge over Stanford bound Wilson but not by much.

vegas says (MI 15 CA 13)

175 Chevy Ferris vs Zach Neviils

Nevills has a quality win over Mark Martin at the clash and capped off his 4 trips to the Rabbobank podium on the top step. We don't know much about Ferris other than they say he is awkward and has a unique style. Edge to Nevills

vegas says (MI 15 CA 16)

187 Kevin Beazley vs Nikko Reyes

Nikko handled Beazly at Flo in the finals. Both Beazley bound for Old Dominion and Dean are weighing in here, some say Dean who is more athletic may be a style clash for the Illinois bound Reyes. I am told Beazley will likely get the rematch so Reyes gets the edge.

vegas says (MI 15 CA 19)

195 Gabe Dean vs Robert Marchese

Dean has done well at Americas Cup beating Lobsinger last year and Tank Knowles the year before. Headed with Simaz to Cornell he gets a slight edge over the Bucknell bound Marchese. Interesting note Dean's father coached Marchese's future college coach when he was at MSU.

vegas says (MI 18 CA 19)

225 Brian Moran vs Sean Medely

Moran was a state finalist to National and Cadet World Champ Adam Coon who is his teammate. In MI you can double enter. He is said to be a tough hombre. Medely was an all american at Flo. Both underclassman these two should help decide the dual depending on where it starts. Edge too Moran but who knows.

vegas says (MI 21 CA 19)

290 Ryan Prescott vs Nick Nevills

Say it aint so Joe Prescott is a diaper dandy from Mi in a weight class that you will rarely find a freshman in the finals. Nevills won the CA state title as a freshman last year while Prescott who is said to be tough made his state finals this year as a fresman. Edge is going to Nevills here but these are not your typical dancing bears.

vegas says (MI 21 CA 22)

    Outlook

Gaytan needs bonus points and CA needs to not give any up. There are a few toss up matches that could swing this in MI's favor--but than again Isaiah Martinez and Wilson, Hokit, Saavedra and a few others could also pull upsets and once again send MI home scratching there head.

There are two types of people: those that talk the talk and those that walk the walk. People who walk the walk sometimes talk the talk but most times they don't talk at all, 'cause they walkin'. Now, people who talk the talk, when it comes time for them to walk the walk, you know what they do? They talk people like me into walkin' for them.

You can have all the talent in the world, but if you're not willing to work hard, then what's the point.

We'll see. One match at a time, is what I always tell our kids. The motto in our room is, "Win or don't come home." We'll see if he earns that ride home.

I'm actually more interested in seeing how well some of our unknowns do. They could surprise some kids.
