    Default College Signings in California

Pretty interesting to see a lot of CCS wrestlers taking advantage of the smaller colleges. Looks like the CCS is sending more kids off to wrestle in college than any other section (I didn't count, but brief observation).

With the limited opportunities it would be nice to see more of our kids attending Menlo, Simpson, etc that can't get into D1 or qualify for D1, or even attend JC and transfer if the funds aren't available.

I had a talk with a few JC coaches who are now sending there kids to tournaments even after the JC season , to get them ready to move on to the next level and get exposure.

    Default College signings in CA?

With a post title like that, I would expect for you to post who has signed where. But no - what point are you trying to make? CCS kids, but no specifics?

What difference does it make as to what school the kids attend?? If they go off to smaller colleges maybe that's what they wanted to do?? Maybe the smaller colleges did a real good job offering the kids packages that the big schools didn't?? Why go to a Div I if you can get a full ride to a D II or an NAIA?? I mean what's the point of going to college?? If I can get it all paid for and get a degree I'd guess that I'm the one who has come out on top.

How do you know the CCS is sending more kids to wrestle in college? Their is alot of Central Sections kids wrestling in college who don't list that they have signed with someone and that goes for the whole state. Are you including Junior College also? You would be surprise how many kids from California are wrestling at colleges in the Midwest. My son runs into California kids all the time in the Midwest at tournament.

    Here you go:

Now I'm not from the CCS or a advocate, but it seems that being in the middle of the road when it comes to state qualifiers/placers other sections should be represented better or worse based on this when sending kids to college (Either large or small, D1 or whatever).

Poway, congrats on sending your few to college this year. What is the point of your post?

And 2 dogs it doesn't make a difference. That wasn't my point. But if you know anything about college wrestling there isn't probably more than 5 kids (probably less) on this entire list getting a athletic full ride. Also, if you know what the intentions are of NAIA schools, you will know they hardly give full rides either. My point was rather to point out that the CCS, being a middle of the road section is sending a lot of kids to college. I commend them and whoever is helping with this.

    HighC83 look at the links.

Cobra12, I am aware of both of those links. Their is alot of schools especially in NAIA and DIII that don't list who signs with them; for example Lupe Flores from Selma signed with Northwestern College in Iowa and I heard Mike Perez Selma/Westhills JC signed with Bacone in Oklahoma. Like I said my son runs into California wrestlers in the Midwest all the time that I never knew were still wrestling. Their's opportunity for wrestlers from California to wrestle in college if they have the grades and are willing to go to school in the Midwest or East coast.

I agree. All I'm saying is that there is lots of those opportunities out there for Bacone and Northwestern College, etc. It would be nice to see a accurate number of where all the California kids are going wether it be High School or JC.

yeah not sure as to how you could find an easy link to who is going to what JC's and what not?? We have one wrestler who graduated this year who for sure is going to Mt. Sac next year. But yeah it's really hard to track?
